Smart Procurement: Russian SRM Platforms Move Toward Intelligent Management

BFT Holding has rolled out a major upgrade to its BFT.Zakupki SRM system. The comprehensive procurement management platform now includes new automation tools and integrates with enterprise ecosystems.

The update lets users consolidate multiple procurement requests into a single request. A technical designer also allows them to create templates for standard contracts and technical specifications on their own. A repository stores frequently used documents, while an online editor lets team members collaborate, make changes and track revisions.

End-to-End Procurement Management

The developers have sought to cover the entire procurement lifecycle within a single digital environment. The SRM system now features a “Procurement Dashboard” that brings all active purchases into one view. Color-coding each procurement by its current stage makes it easier to track deadlines. The new version also lets users define criteria for selecting electronic trading platforms (ETPs), automatically match purchases with suitable platforms and allocate procurement volumes. An intelligent module collects statistics for analysis.

For large businesses and government organizations, the platform’s expanded capabilities could reduce duplicate work, speed up procurement approvals and execution, and improve spending transparency. Procurement accounts for a substantial share of corporate financial flows, so digitizing these activities directly improves operational efficiency.

The AI Frontier

BFT.Zakupki integrates with external systems. Data exchange with SAP ERP, SPARK-Interfax and other enterprise platforms makes it easier for users to share information, monitor counterparties and coordinate procurement committees. Companies that have spent years building their IT environments around SAP software from a foreign vendor can gradually replace individual modules with Russian alternatives while keeping processes under control and avoiding business disruption.

In parallel, BFT Holding is expanding its focus on intelligent tools. A month ago, the company introduced a neural assistant that helps users navigate BFT.Zakupki around the clock. AI services also handle tasks such as selecting classification codes, preparing documentation and checking procurement applications against internal policies.

“Procurement involves a particularly large number of tasks that require professionals to analyze substantial volumes of data and documents, compare requirements and ensure compliance with internal rules. These are precisely the scenarios in which AI can deliver the most noticeable practical benefits,” said Rustam Ardavov, director of procurement and financial control at BFT Holding.

Russia’s market is following the global trend, moving from automating routine tasks toward intelligent procurement support. The use of homegrown AI solutions for these purposes is expected to expand.

From Basic Features to the Full Procurement Lifecycle

The evolution of BFT.Zakupki reflects the broader development of Russian SRM systems. In February 2022, BFT Holding introduced a comprehensive solution covering the full procurement lifecycle under Federal Law No. 223-FZ. The launch came as companies urgently sought replacements for Western vendors that had exited the Russian market.

The developers have regularly added tools in response to procurement teams’ needs, first automating the system’s core functions and then expanding automation across the entire procurement workflow. Low-code tools, for example, made it possible to customize the system and integrate it into companies’ existing IT environments. The platform now offers broader capabilities through data integration and the introduction of artificial intelligence.

Building Technological Sovereignty

Russian SRM systems are no longer merely emergency alternatives to Western software. They have become competitive solutions capable of meeting complex enterprise requirements. Electronic document management, seamless data exchange with ERP systems and electronic trading platforms, and counterparty verification tools all support end-to-end procurement management, including through AI-powered features. Procurement processes are expected to become even more intelligent next year, improving both speed and quality.

The development of domestic SRM platforms strengthens Russia’s technological sovereignty. Businesses can build resilient procurement IT infrastructure without depending on foreign vendors’ solutions.

The direction of BFT.Zakupki’s development is shaped by the combination of our industry expertise and users’ practical experience. We have a deep understanding of procurement processes, systematically analyze customers’ needs and use those insights to determine which changes the product genuinely requires. We consider not only the market’s current needs, but also the trends that will shape the future of procurement digitization
