Moscow Updates the Smart City Moscow Innovation Showcase
Moscow has refreshed its Smart City Moscow showcase, offering residents, visitors, and tech professionals a clearer window into the city’s most advanced digital projects and the technologies shaping Russia’s capital.

A Central Hub for Moscow’s Most Innovative Projects
The Department of Information Technologies of Moscow, together with the ICT.Moscow industry portal, has released an updated version of the Smart City Moscow special project. The digital showcase now features 111 initiatives: 67 updated smart‑city practices and 44 newly added ones.
Highlighted projects include the city’s digital‑twin subsystem Meta‑Moscow, the Mos.Tech innovation platform, and the 5G Demo Center. All initiatives are categorized both by application field—such as transportation, urban management, and communication infrastructure—and, for the first time, by technological domain.

The largest section is “Artificial Intelligence,” with 26 projects, followed by “Internet of Things,” while communication‑technology projects take third place. The updated portal brings all of Moscow’s most significant smart‑city innovations into one easily accessible platform.
Global Benchmarks and Local Insights
Smart City Moscow also introduces analytics on global smart‑city innovations. Quarterly reports highlight both international technologies and the most promising Moscow‑based solutions. Visitors can subscribe to new releases at no cost.
According to Dmitry Ontoev, adviser to the Director of the Moscow Information Technology Department, the Russian capital studies advanced international and domestic IT practices closely. Over 650 global smart‑city practices have already been evaluated. This approach reveals not only the latest technological trends but also how Moscow’s own solutions resonate with international audiences.
Since 2023, officials have conducted more than 70 bilateral meetings with delegations from 27 countries—evidence of growing global interest in the city’s digital ecosystem.

Improving Everyday Life and Strengthening Tech Leadership
The evolution of Smart City Moscow highlights the capital’s technological capabilities—both for residents, through improved services and higher quality of life, and for businesses, through an accessible innovation‑deployment platform.
Residents benefit from services built on leading global practices, while modern infrastructure management enhances day‑to‑day comfort. Moscow’s active smart‑city rollout boosts Russia’s digital‑technology market by allowing local companies to present and scale solutions to potential international customers.

Moscow serves as a flagship for other Russian cities, setting higher standards for digital governance and enabling experience sharing across regions. The Smart City Moscow showcase is particularly important for promoting Russian developers and attracting investors and partners.
Solutions such as Mos.Tech and the Meta‑Moscow digital twin can be scaled nationwide and, with proper localization, exported to CIS countries, the Middle East, and Africa.
