Researchers at the Novosibirsk Research Institute of Hygiene, part of Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), have developed a neural network model that can identify risks of posture and vision problems based on a person’s working posture. Institute Director Irina Novikova presented the technology at the Tekhnoprom forum.

“If such problems are already present, the model can predict the likelihood that the condition will progress and assess how effective the preventive measures being taken are,” Novikova said.

The developers are now seeking a patent for the technology. Once the process is complete, the system could begin to be used, including in educational institutions.

The 13th Tekhnoprom International Forum of Technological Development was held in Novosibirsk from August 26 to 28, with delegations from 40 countries taking part. The main theme of the event was “Russian Science – the Foundation of Technological Leadership.”
