Perm Researchers Develop Rapid Method for Calculating Oil Pump Energy Efficiency
The method achieves accuracy of up to 99%.

Researchers at Perm Polytechnic have developed a rapid method for calculating the energy efficiency of oil pumps. It can determine optimal operating parameters with up to 99% accuracy.
The technology addresses one of the oil industry’s major challenges. Wells gradually age and their resource reserves decline, but pumps often continue operating under the same settings. This results in unnecessary electricity consumption. The problem has long been addressed through manual calculations, but the new method eliminates the need for that approach.
The new approach will allow oil companies to save electricity without reducing production volumes. An engineer at the site or an automated system will be able to determine equipment operating parameters in just seconds.
