Russia Automates Field Pollination with Smart Drone Tank

A team of young engineers from Innopolis University has created a prototype “smart” tank for agricultural drones, designed to track special fluids levels and optimize crop spraying.

According to Innopolis University’s press office, the prototype uses a float sensor to measure liquid consumption in real time. This allows drones to return for refills at the right moment, increasing efficiency and ensuring uninterrupted field treatment.

The innovation also enables the automation of crop pollination by integrating drones into smart farming systems. In the near future, sensors, drones, and AI will guide farmers on what to water, fertilize, or harvest—and when. This approach promises higher yields, time and resource savings, and better risk forecasting.
