Geoscan Group and Operator infrastruktury BAS (Operator of UAS Infrastructure) have signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop ground-based communications infrastructure critical for scaling the use of unmanned aerial systems.

One of the priority areas is deploying drones in the forestry sector, where they are expected to strengthen monitoring and help prevent wildfires.

“Today the unmanned systems market is entering a scaling phase, and a key factor is not only the technology itself but also the infrastructure that supports its deployment – especially given Russia’s vast territory, where the effectiveness of solutions depends on their ability to operate over long distances and in remote regions,” said Aleksey Yuretskiy, CEO of Geoscan.

Drones are also expected to play a role in mapping and geodesy.
