Smart Machines Are Helping Kids Heal in Russia

At a children’s hospital in Blagoveshchensk, intelligent medical devices are making rehabilitation more effective while easing the workload for doctors.

Russia is continuing to integrate advanced technology into healthcare. A children’s hospital in Blagoveshchensk has introduced intelligent medical systems for pediatric rehabilitation. The new equipment—the “Polimag” magnetotherapy device and the “Transair-03” electrical stimulator—uses machine-learning algorithms to automatically adjust treatment parameters for each child. These smart machines simplify doctors’ work and improve treatment outcomes.

According to the regional newspaper Amurskaya Pravda, the Transair-03 is used for transcranial electrical stimulation, applying low-frequency currents to the cerebral cortex to reduce hyperexcitability and improve sleep and memory. Previously, doctors had to configure all settings manually. Now, it is enough to choose the type of current, duration, and intensity—the machine does the rest. Portable and easy to move between offices, the device offers added convenience.

Polimag, meanwhile, allows several children to be treated simultaneously, using different methods thanks to interchangeable applicators. This expands the scope of rehabilitation significantly.

Beyond therapy, the hospital has also introduced “Aytisha,” an educational robot-consultant that teaches children financial literacy through play.
