Artificial Intelligence in Russia Is Prospecting for Gold
High-tech tools are being deployed both in mining transport operations and in day-to-day production management.

The Russian gold producer Polyus is actively using artificial intelligence in the development of the Sukhoi Log deposit in northern Irkutsk Region. To ensure uninterrupted operation of mining transport at the Verninskaya gold processing plant, the company has introduced the domestic intelligent system MONTRANS DVR.
The “smart” assistant warns drivers about obstacles, lane departures or sudden acceleration. The system can prompt the driver to follow safety rules or wake them if necessary.
Not Gold, but a Digital Twin
A virtual replica of the gold processing plant is also expected to help optimize technological processes. The digital twin of the Verninskaya plant will analyze new components, parameter changes and equipment characteristics before they are introduced into real production. The data can be adjusted repeatedly until the desired outcome is achieved. The virtual model can also be used as a training simulator to upgrade employees’ skills.
