AI Helps Russia Detect Violations in Food Transportation

The digital transformation of Russia’s agricultural sector is strengthening food safety, product quality control, and the nation’s overall health—all while boosting export potential.

In Russia’s Oryol Region alone, artificial intelligence systems detected 3,323 violations in the transportation of livestock products in early 2025. One case involved an attempt to deliver milk to a school using documents that clearly contradicted the actual logistics timeline.

Such incidents, quickly intercepted by AI, often indicate attempts to move goods without proper documentation or inspection—posing risks to consumers.

IT Is Reshaping Russia’s Agricultural Sector

Artificial intelligence integrated into the state information system “Mercury” analyzes 100% of veterinary documents in real time, identifying fake supply chains and suspicious logistics patterns. Earlier this year, authorities in the Primorsky Territory reported that AI had uncovered 99 violations in dairy production.

Digital tools being introduced into Russia’s agribusiness not only enhance production efficiency but also ensure transparent oversight at every stage—from farm to store shelf.
