Russia to Invest $3.2 Million in Advanced Industrial Robotics Center

Russia is launching a new federally funded robotics hub at a major technical university, aiming to drive automation and engineer-ready solutions across industries.

The Russian government has announced plans to allocate 295 million rubles (approximately $3.2 million) from the federal budget to create a cutting-edge Center for Industrial Robotics. The new research and development hub will be established at the R.E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, with phased funding set to continue through 2027.

The center will focus on developing full-cycle domestic robotics solutions—from scientific research to product commercialization. Priority will be given to advanced engineering projects and modernizing production technologies.

A key mission of the center is workforce development: more than 250 specialists in industrial robotics are expected to be trained annually. As automation expands across Russia’s industrial landscape, the demand for technically skilled personnel continues to grow.

In addition to R&D and education, the center’s experts will conduct technology audits and support digital transformation efforts at industrial facilities. The goal is to create practical, ready-to-implement solutions tailored to Russian factories and manufacturing plants.

A similar facility is being planned in the Republic of Bashkortostan, where the regional government is preparing to launch full-cycle robot and component manufacturing. The initiative will bring together developers, scientists, engineers, and manufacturers under one roof to foster breakthrough innovations.
