Russia Launches Its First Virtual Museum of Biotechnology

An interactive digital platform gives anyone, anywhere in the world, a chance to see how biotechnology is shaping the future of science and humanity.

The Russian Far East has become home to the nation’s first virtual museum of modern biotechnology, developed by the Advanced Engineering School of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The online platform is freely accessible 24/7, offering an immersive experience that showcases the latest breakthroughs in biotechnology and their impact on daily life.

The project demonstrates how biotechnology is applied in real-world contexts. Visitors can interact directly with digital exhibits — for instance, simulating vaccine creation or exploring how biological science helps restore art masterpieces. Another section highlights the growing role of the bioeconomy and how it could reshape the global landscape in the coming years.

A New Tool for Education and Public Science

This initiative is a vivid example of digital transformation in science and education. The exhibition will continue to expand with new interactive displays to stay up to date. The project was developed with support from Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in collaboration with the Federal Research Center for Biotechnology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the BioTech2030 platform.

The virtual museum serves as a powerful educational tool. It gives students and science enthusiasts direct access to cutting-edge knowledge, helping train the next generation of specialists in one of the world’s most promising fields.
