Russia Introduces Option to Close Sick Leave Remotely
The service allows patients to complete sick leave using digital tools without visiting a medical facility in person.
Residents of Domodedovo in the Moscow region can now close a sick leave certificate without making an in-person visit to a medical institution.
According to Domodedovo Hospital, a period of temporary disability can be completed through a telemedicine consultation.
During the consultation, a doctor assesses the patient’s health condition and decides whether to close the sick leave. The option is designed for patients who do not require a physical examination but are ready to return to work.

Appointments for telemedicine consultations can be scheduled via the contact center, through the regional public healthcare services portal, or with the help of chatbots on VK and Telegram.
It is worth recalling that from September 1, 2025, Russian doctors have been officially allowed to use artificial intelligence systems during deferred consultations and in organizing medical case conferences. Thanks to telemedicine, physicians can remotely analyze large volumes of data, make diagnoses more quickly and accurately, and adjust treatment in real time.
