Russia Launches National Robotics Hub to Boost Domestic Automation Tech

Russia is establishing a new national center for industrial robotics, aiming to boost domestic automation technologies and reduce reliance on foreign tech.

The Center for the Development of Industrial Robotics will be located in Bashkortostan, a region increasingly positioning itself as Russia’s robotics capital. The announcement came from Andrey Nazarov, Prime Minister of the republic, who said on social media that the center will focus on engineering, design, and IT solutions for various sectors of the Russian economy. One of its primary goals is to consolidate robot and component production on a single platform.

“A federal-level robotics center is essential for combining the expertise of our developers, scientists, engineers, and manufacturers,” Nazarov stated.

Bashkortostan is steadily becoming the heart of Russia’s robotics sector. The region hosts a cluster of six major enterprises that produce components for industrial robots alongside the necessary software.

Nazarov also noted that the center will be based within a large technology park and will involve key market players and industry experts. These partners will help define and address the technological demands of industry when it comes to implementing and developing robotics solutions.
