Russia Unveils a New Unmanned Platform Built for Extreme Conditions
A new autonomous robotic platform developed in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is built to transport cargo, support rescue missions, and operate specialized equipment even in the harshest environments

A Transforming Robot for Extreme Missions
Russia has introduced a new advancement in unmanned technologies: the YAС‑14 platform, created in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). This universal autonomous robot is designed for transporting goods, conducting rescue operations, and working with specialized equipment. The platform can transform to support different mission types, including mounting communication systems, reconnaissance and monitoring tools, and obstacle‑clearing equipment.
The name “YAС‑14” is symbolic: “YAС” represents Yakutia, and “14” corresponds to the region’s official code. Development was carried out within the region, while testing took place at a major scientific center in Moscow. Over the past year, more than 130 drones were assembled, and they have already proven their effectiveness in field conditions.
Regional Innovation Strengthening National Tech
Aisen Nikolaev, Head of Yakutia, highlighted that the region is one of Russia’s leaders in training highly qualified operators and developing robotic systems. To further strengthen these capabilities, the “Polyarny” science and production center is already operating in Yakutsk, specializing in the creation of new unmanned complexes.
The emergence of the YAС‑14 platform is a clear demonstration of how Russian regions are actively advancing high‑tech manufacturing. Projects like this reinforce the technological potential of the entire country.
