Russia Has Tested the World’s First Flight Attendant Robot

Russia has conducted the world’s first test flight featuring a robotic flight attendant, aiming to enhance passenger service and streamline boarding while complementing, not replacing, the human crew.

A New Era of Service Robotics in Aviation

During a Pobeda Airlines flight, the first‑ever airborne test of a robotic flight attendant took place. The robot, named Volodya, became part of an experiment introducing next‑generation service technologies.

Volodya greeted passengers at the aircraft stairs, checked boarding passes, and assisted the crew in demonstrating emergency and safety equipment. According to the airline, the project’s goal is to make service more convenient and technologically advanced—without replacing the crew.

Friendly, Accurate, and Helpful

Passengers eagerly took photos with the unusual assistant, noting Volodya’s friendly appearance and the careful way it handled boarding pass checks. The airline believes that Volodya and similar robots may eventually speed up boarding and make in‑flight service even more comfortable.

Pobeda continues updating its service ecosystem: the low‑cost airline operates 42 Boeing 737‑800 aircraft, and last year’s passenger traffic exceeded 13.7 million people. The company is confident that integrating robots into service processes will become another step toward modern, comfortable air travel.
