Russia Develops Next-Gen Memory Modules for Space Tech

A new Russian-made memory chip is helping slash the weight and size of space electronics while boosting reliability and performance.

Russia’s space industry is launching serial production of cutting-edge memory modules, according to Russian Space Systems, a division of the Roscosmos State Corporation.

Scientists have developed next-generation microchips with no global equivalent, allowing on-board systems to cut mass and size by up to 50% without sacrificing performance. These components are expected to play a key role in communications satellites and Earth observation platforms.

Engineers at Russian Space Systems say the new design enables components to be positioned closer together, making the entire system lighter and more compact. This layout reduces power consumption, simplifies construction, and paves the way for expanded functionality. With mass production now underway, the technology is expected to benefit not only the space sector but other adjacent industries as well.
