A preliminary standard governing driver monitoring systems using artificial intelligence will take effect in Russia on June 15. The document has already been approved by specialists at Rosstandart.

The standard covers technologies deployed in vehicles, including requirements for neural network training and the configuration of hardware and software systems used to collect and process video and biometric data.

Also, the standard defines accuracy parameters for algorithms that assess and predict driver condition, along with requirements to ensure the protection of personal data.

Rosstandart expects the document to help reduce the number of road accidents and streamline coordination between AI developers and regulatory authorities. Over time, the accumulated data will be used to develop a permanent standard.
