Russia’s Eco-Habit Chatbot Is Turning Citizens into Everyday Environmentalists

A growing number of Russians are using a chatbot to track green actions, take on eco-challenges, and earn rewards for cleaning up the environment.

An AI-powered chatbot called the ‘Eco Habit Tracker’ is gaining traction across Russia, helping users adopt environmentally conscious habits through digital challenges and gamified incentives.

The platform encourages users to participate in national environmental campaigns like ‘Clean Air,’ ‘BoomBattle,’ ‘Save the Forest,’ and ‘Water of Russia.’ Participants log their activities—like trash pickup, recycling paper, or cleaning riverbanks—and earn points redeemable for rewards.

Entire families are joining the movement. Parents are teaching kids how to sort waste, plant trees, and take care of public spaces. In just the first three weeks of its rollout, residents from 53 Russian regions signed up for the initiative.

Russia is also deploying cutting-edge tools to support its environmental push. Unmanned boats are patrolling rivers and flagging spots where underwater trash has accumulated. Once identified, the waste is extracted and disposed of by professionals.

Meanwhile, AI-powered cameras are catching individuals who fail to dispose of waste properly. Similar surveillance systems are being used to detect wildfires—neural networks scan for smoke and alert emergency teams. Drones help monitor fire containment and limit spread.

Together, these digital solutions reflect Russia’s growing reliance on technology to protect the environment—one chatbot, one drone, and one cleanup at a time.
