Russia Develops Digital Scanner for Histology and Cytology
The device is priced at roughly one-tenth the cost of comparable foreign systems.

Roboskop Patolodzhi (Roboskop Pathology), a Skolkovo Foundation resident, has completed regulatory registration of a digital scanner for histology and cytology. The device has received certification from Roszdravnadzor, Russia’s healthcare regulator.
The system is fully developed in Russia, with all components and software created domestically.
“The launch of a fully Russian digital
scanner for histology and cytology is a significant milestone for the country’s
healthcare system, enabling laboratories nationwide to adopt modern digital
diagnostic tools at one-tenth the cost of foreign alternatives,” said Yuliya
Shcheglova, director of Medical and Assistive Technologies at the Skolkovo
Foundation.
The lower cost is particularly important for regional laboratories that cannot afford expensive digital equipment. The device is expected to address several challenges, including improving women’s health screening and enabling earlier detection of cancer.
