Russia is running a large-scale cultural heritage preservation program built around a single digital platform. The resource known as nasledie.dom.rf was created specifically to support the restoration of hundreds of historic buildings across the country.

The platform, developed by DOM.RF together with Russia’s Ministry of Culture, brings together detailed information on architectural heritage sites. It currently contains data on more than 1,600 historic properties across 81 regions.

Investors interested in restoring a building can find everything needed to get started, including information on preferential loans for restoration projects and a database of vetted contractors licensed to work with cultural heritage sites.

Progress on restoration projects is tracked using a digital roadmap. This online tool shows planned timelines and the current stage of work for each site.

The platform features, for example, 55 historic buildings in the Republic of Tatarstan. Restoration work is already underway at 12 of them using digital tools. The region was among the first in Russia to begin digitizing cultural heritage sites.
