In Russia, a Digital System Monitors Energy Security

The digital complex “IntelEnergo” is reshaping how regional grid operators in Russia monitor energy security and respond to potential risks.

Scientists at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University presented the “IntelEnergo” digital complex at the “Fyodorov Readings — 2025” conference hosted by Moscow Power Engineering Institute. The system is designed to help normalize electricity consumption and support rapid decision‑making in the face of potential threats to the region’s energy infrastructure.

The platform takes into account the unique exclave status of the Kaliningrad region and allows operators to model various energy‑limitation scenarios — ranging from 20 to 90 percent — without disrupting key technological processes at industrial facilities.

Operating in a mode close to real time, the system analyzes the condition of energy facilities, forecasts load levels, and generates optimal scenarios to maintain grid stability. According to project lead Viktor Gnatyuk, experts praised the system’s potential as a valuable tool for dispatch services and power‑grid companies.

The “IntelEnergo” complex can also integrate with existing monitoring and analytics platforms, expanding the ability to control energy systems under high load or external risks. Developers note that such technology could significantly strengthen the region’s energy resilience, ensuring timely support in unforeseen situations.
