In Russia, an AI Calculator Is Set to Help Detect Intestinal Inflammation
The diagnostic tool can determine the form and severity of the disease, predict the risk of complications, and build a long-term prognosis.

Researchers at Novosibirsk State Technical University have developed a calculator that can accurately detect intestinal inflammation and determine both the form and severity of the condition, the university’s press service said.
The machine-learning-based tool simplifies the analysis of large volumes of clinical data and laboratory test results. Trained models rapidly process extensive datasets, helping physicians predict the likelihood of complications and select more effective treatment strategies.
An Accessible Application
The researchers have built a web-based application that allows clinicians to enter patient data and receive results from five different machine-learning models, along with additional information on the accuracy of each diagnostic assessment.
According to the developers, the key advantage of the method lies in its simplicity and accessibility for a broad patient population. The team has already secured a patent for the invention and now plans to expand the tool’s functionality, improve result processing, and integrate it with other medical systems and patient databases.
