In a Russian City, a Robot Now Calls Patients of a Children’s Hospital

An automated voice system in Orenburg is streamlining appointment scheduling and freeing up doctors’ time.

A children’s hospital in Orenburg, Russia, has rolled out a robotic call system to manage patient appointments. The new service automates confirmation calls for visits to specialists, reducing administrative workload and making the scheduling process more efficient.

The automated assistant calls parents of young patients with reminders about upcoming appointments, giving them the option to confirm or cancel. If a slot is declined, it is instantly released back into the system and made available for other patients—helping the hospital maximize capacity.

Patient security remains a priority. The system uses a single, verified number and only requests a child’s full name. Hospital officials warn that any SMS messages or personal data requests from other numbers should be considered fraudulent.

According to hospital leadership, the technology will ease pressure on medical staff by eliminating routine tasks. Doctors will be able to spend more time on patient care, while families gain quicker and more reliable access to healthcare services.
