Russian Messenger Max Adds Option to Hide Sensitive Content

The national messenger continues to expand its privacy tools, giving users more control over what they see and share.

The Russian messenger app Max has introduced two new features in its latest update: the ability to hide potentially distressing content and the option to share direct links to posts.

To filter out publications containing sensitive or inappropriate material, users can activate the new “Safe Mode” setting. In the Privacy section of the app, the Content tab lets users choose whether to view posts fully or partially. When the safe option is enabled, channels and posts marked “16+” are automatically hidden from feeds, search results, and forwards.

Links, Counters, and Quotes Among Recent Updates

The update also adds direct sharing links, as well as view counters for channel authors. In the near future, users will be able to format parts of their posts as quotes.

Earlier, the national messenger introduced Digital ID integration through the government platform Gosuslugi, allowing users to verify their identity using a driver’s license. The app also supports chatbots and mini-applications for financial transactions, internal payments, and integration with public and corporate services.
