Rostov Region Launches Digital Service to Protect Bees From Pesticides

The “Portal pchelovoda” (Beekeeper Portal) has gone live in the Rostov region as an open government resource designed to alert beekeepers in advance about planned chemical treatments of agricultural fields.

The service is built on Rosselkhoznadzor’s federal information system “Saturn.” It requires no registration: users can access maps showing where and when pesticide applications are scheduled, which chemicals will be used and how hazardous they are to insects. The platform also highlights zones of potential risk for bee populations.

Civil servants from the regional branch of Rosselkhoztsentr are encouraging both farmers and beekeepers to actively use the tool during the agricultural season.

The practical value is straightforward. With advance notice, beekeepers can relocate hives or temporarily isolate them before pesticide exposure. This directly affects the survival of bee colonies and helps preserve their productivity.

In a region like Rostov, where agriculture is expanding, the Beekeeper Portal is emerging as a key part of the agri-digital infrastructure. It improves coordination between farmers and beekeepers and makes field operations more transparent.
