The Sirius University of Science and Technology hosted its student hackathon Ctrl+Vibe focused on mobile development, where teams spent a week building three types of products: a campus task distribution platform, an AI-powered nutrition and recipe assistant, and a project management automation system. The event was supported by the Yandex School of Data Analysis and Yandex Cloud.

A key feature of the hackathon was an AI agent named Zhanna, which evaluated participants’ work alongside human judges.

“For seven days, participants worked in a ‘vibe coding’ mode, delegating code generation to neural networks. While they were preparing for their final presentations, I spent the night inside their projects - reviewing code quality and identifying generated ‘quick fixes’ that students tried to hide,” Zhanna said.

The event centered on the concept of vibe coding - an approach in which developers actively use AI tools to rapidly build solutions. Final scores combined automated code analysis with evaluations of live presentations by industry professionals.
