Moscow Introduces AI Voice Assistant to Manage Apartment Buildings

A smart home system in Russia’s capital now uses a Yandex AI assistant to help residents control intercoms, security cameras, and visitor access.

Smart home technologies are increasingly being integrated into Russian apartment buildings to improve both convenience and security. In one Moscow complex, the Yandex voice assistant 'Alice' is now being used to answer intercom calls, display video surveillance footage, and manage digital entry passes for guests and couriers.

The move comes amid a rise in cyberattacks on service providers which have caused interruptions in digital infrastructure across the country.

The AI system’s capabilities are expected to expand as voice assistants in Russia continue to learn new functions for interacting with residents. In this smart building, the neural network handles many routine responsibilities—streamlining daily life for tenants.

Tasks once handled by a concierge such as scheduling cleanings or resolving service requests, can now be automated through AI, making life more convenient for urban residents.
