Half a Million Smart Electricity Meters Installed in Tatarstan

As of early May, more than 535,000 smart electricity meters had been installed across Tatarstan, according to grid operator Setevaya kompaniya. Every second customer has switched to automated transmission of electricity consumption data.
According to company specialists, the transition to a digital format improves customer service. Consumers can monitor electricity usage through a mobile application. The system also allows users to choose tariff plans based on different times of day, depending on their energy needs.
Digitalization is also improving the efficiency of the utility provider. Meter readings are collected automatically, reducing the need for manual reporting. The system helps shorten power restoration times during outages and enables utilities to quickly limit electricity supply in emergency situations, including fires and other incidents.
