Yakutia to Get New Energy-Efficient Data Center
A corresponding memorandum was signed by the regional government, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and Rostelecom.
The government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, and Rostelecom have signed a memorandum to build a new data center. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
The new facility is set to become the hub for the digitalization of business and industry in the region. At the same time, the local climate is expected to allow the data center to consume significantly less electricity for cooling.
“Yakutia can become a center for digital projects in the Far East, consolidating infrastructure for high-performance cloud computing, large-scale data storage, and the development of artificial intelligence technologies. The creation of a data center will attract new investment to the region by drawing interest from technology companies, startups, and large enterprises in need of additional capacity. This will help improve the quality of life in the republic, create jobs, and open up new opportunities,” said Gasan Gasanbalaev, Deputy Director General of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation.
