Leading Industrial Enterprises Confirm the High Efficiency of Russian IT Solutions

The exit of Western players from the Russian market has acted as a powerful catalyst for the development of domestic software. Experts forecast sustained growth in Russian engineering software in the years ahead

The Russian IT Market Demonstrates Steady Growth

The share of the IT sector in Russia’s GDP has grown from 1.32% in 2019 to 2.43% in 2024. It now leads in employment growth, wage increases, and capital investment rates. The main driver of this momentum is rising domestic demand for digital technologies across government, business, and industry.

According to Strategy Partners, Russia’s engineering software market grew by nearly 20% in 2024 year-over-year, reaching 50 billion rubles. Growth was driven by the construction and mechanical engineering sectors, expanded government support, and large-scale infrastructure projects. Experts project average annual growth of 16% through 2030.

In the construction sector, which relies heavily on CAD systems, modeling, and data storage systems, demand is expected to grow by 40% by 2030. This is attributed to state-led digitization policies as well as internal economic and technological changes.

Faster and More Efficient

Today, Russian products make up the majority of licensed engineering solutions on the domestic market. Leading players include ASCON, Top Systems, CSoft Development, and Nanosoft.

In 2024, Nanosoft increased its number of active clients and license sales: 144,000 licenses were sold, with 8,600 legal entities in its active client base, including some of the country’s largest corporations. Total software shipments reached €58.6 million, up 23% from 2023.

Demand for engineering software won’t just remain high—it will keep growing. In the construction sector alone, demand is projected to increase by 40% by 2030

Nanosoft has launched a new product, 'nanoCAD BIM Construction,' which integrates architectural and structural design capabilities. This specialized software speeds up project development while improving quality, thanks to built-in templates, databases, and complex calculation tools.

The company is also exploring opportunities to enter international markets, especially in Southeast Asia. Nanosoft already has experience working with foreign clients and plans to expand its global footprint.

High Efficiency of Russian IT Solutions

Another leading domestic software developer, CSoft Group, has demonstrated extraordinary 660% growth over the past five years.

The company offers a unique suite of information modeling technology (IMT) tools—including Model Studio CS and the CADLib and Xlib products—that cover the entire life cycle of construction projects, from concept to commissioning. In June, Model Studio CS successfully passed joint testing with Russia’s specialized operating system Astra Linux Special Edition (v. 1.7, 1.8) and the Tantor Special Edition DBMS. Tests confirmed full compatibility and stable functionality with these platforms.

Major clients have shared their implementation results. Vyacheslav Guryanov, Deputy General Director of Gazprom Design, stated that since July 1, 2023, all site projects have been carried out exclusively using software from CSoft and Nanosoft. 'Together with the CSoft team, we developed a rapid software improvement process that addressed more than 80% of our current requirements,' he emphasized.

Russia Accelerates Digital Transformation

At the national level, developing local software is of strategic importance. It reduces dependence on foreign technology, strengthens cybersecurity, and enhances the resilience of the industrial sector against external risks. Government support programs—including tax incentives, grants, and R&D investments—play a key role in this process.

As Western companies withdrew from the Russian market, domestic software developers seized the opportunity, with the engineering software sector showing strong and steady growth. Russian IT developers also have potential for international expansion, particularly in the EAEU, BRICS, and other regions where Russian technologies are viewed favorably.
