All carsharing operators in Moscow have implemented systems to check driver attentiveness as part of broader road safety efforts.

“Moscow is a global leader in the number of carsharing vehicles. Under the direction of Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we are doing everything to make this service as safe as possible. Now all operators have added short cognitive tests to their apps, helping drivers objectively assess their level of concentration during higher-risk periods,” said Maxim Liksutov, Moscow’s deputy mayor for transport and industry.

In practice, drivers are prompted to complete a short attentiveness test before starting a trip. The system may ask users to arrange numbers in order on the screen or select images that match a given theme. The process takes little time but helps assess a driver’s condition before driving. The tests are triggered in the morning, evening, and at night.
