Futurist Ruslan Yusufov: “Not only Metrics, Humanity Also ”
At Russia’s Internet Forum (RIF-2025), futurist Ruslan Yusufov argued that the country’s IT sector must prioritize human-centered approaches, predicting the rise of a new market for so-called ‘slow technologies.’

Yusufov said that the competitiveness of Russian IT should not be defined solely by technological benchmarks but by the degree of humanity embedded within its systems. While Russia’s fintech and e-commerce are already competitive, he argued, the greatest potential lies in fundamentally new approaches.
Addressing society’s readiness for digital transformation, the futurist called the process inevitable yet one that generates countercultures. The deeper the world moves into digital life, he said, the stronger the demand will be for “slow technologies” that safeguard mental health.
Yusufov foresees a massive market emerging for analog yet hyper-customized formats—from newspapers to banks—for people who want digital capabilities without living entirely online.
