Nenad Badovinac: AI Should Benefit Society and Be Understandable to People
Artificial intelligence and digital technologies should be developed in ways that benefit society, are used responsibly and are understandable to people. To achieve this, the expert believes, there needs to be dialogue among science, industry and society.

Trends in digital transformation, technology solutions and opportunities for international cooperation will be discussed at the 2nd Global Digital Forum. It will take place from Oct. 8 to 10 at the Mechta venue in Moscow’s Gorky Park.
Dr. Nenad Badovinac, President of the Serbian Academic Initiative for the Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence (SAVI), told IT Russia what he expects from the forum, whom he wants to meet and what areas of cooperation he sees between Serbia and Russia.
– For me, participation in the Global Digital Forum 2026 is an opportunity to connect professional experience, academic work and international cooperation in one place. I am coming to Moscow from Serbia with a strong interest in how artificial intelligence, digital media and new technologies can be developed in a way that is useful, responsible and understandable to society.
As President of the Serbian Academic Initiative for Safe Application of Artificial Intelligence (SAVI), I am particularly interested in meeting researchers, universities, technology organizations and institutions that are working on responsible AI, AI ethics and practical frameworks for the safe use of artificial intelligence. I believe that these questions can only be addressed effectively through dialogue between different scientific disciplines, industry and the wider public.
At the same time, my interests go beyond the academic field. I am also involved in digital media and journalism, including Blagovesti TV, travel-reporting projects and the development of digital tools that combine content, technology and artificial intelligence. For that reason, I hope the Forum will also create opportunities for media cooperation, exchange of articles and interviews, joint projects and new ways of presenting Serbian and Russian authors, experts and ideas to wider audiences.
I am especially interested in practical conversations. I would like to meet people who are not only discussing digital transformation, but are building concrete solutions, platforms and partnerships. I hope to exchange experiences, learn how different organizations approach AI governance and digital innovation, and identify areas where cooperation can continue after the Forum.
I also see GDF 2026 as an opportunity to strengthen professional links between Serbia and Russia in the fields of science, technology, media and education. Good cooperation often begins with a direct conversation, a shared idea and a willingness to continue working together.
My main expectation from the Forum is therefore simple: to return from Moscow with new contacts, new knowledge and several concrete directions for future cooperation. If the Forum helps turn conversations into lasting professional relationships and useful joint projects, I will consider the visit a success.
