The initiative was prepared in accordance with an instruction from the Russian President. The pilot is scheduled to run from Jan. 12 to Sept. 1, 2027. Participation will be voluntary, allowing the system to be tested under real-world conditions and its effectiveness to be assessed.

Under the new system, Russian and foreign carriers will be able to submit information about upcoming shipments in advance. Providing information beforehand is expected to simplify and speed up border procedures. The technical basis for the pilot will be the state information system for electronic transportation documents, with all security requirements observed.

The Russian Transport Ministry will organize the pilot and develop a schedule for its implementation and regulations for interaction between participants.

Earlier, the State Duma passed in the first reading a bill aimed at increasing the capacity of border checkpoints and strengthening the competitiveness of Russia's international transport corridors.
