Moscow’s Digital Assistant Just Got a Major Upgrade

An Everyday AI Companion

In Russia’s capital, the city government has launched extensive testing of the updated digital assistant ‘Moscow,’ available via the support chat on the official mos.ru portal. By integrating advanced machine learning technologies, the assistant can now understand user queries more accurately and respond faster, significantly improving the experience of accessing city services.

The new functionality turns the assistant into a true daily helper. Residents can already submit water and electricity meter readings, check school schedules and grades, and access housing records directly through the chat. Over time, the list of available services will continue to grow, allowing users to delegate more routine tasks. The assistant supports both text and voice interaction — an especially convenient feature for users on the move. According to Boris Frolov, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Information Technologies, many of the new features were added in response to citizen feedback.

Integrating AI into Urban Life

The development aligns with the goals of Russia’s national program ‘Data Economy and State Digital Transformation’. Moscow continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in AI integration within urban ecosystems. Currently, more than 120 city projects use artificial intelligence — from simple chatbots to complex platform solutions that streamline administration and public services.

Statistics confirm the value of this approach: since its launch, the first version of the assistant has processed over one million messages, successfully resolving 70% of user requests without human intervention. The new version is expected to push that figure even higher, showing how AI can enhance both public service efficiency and everyday convenience for residents.
