Reclosers Installed on Six Power Line Sections in Orsk
The devices operate automatically and report power line faults.
The Orskiye Electric Networks branch of Orenburgkommunelektroset has installed six reclosers on power lines in Orsk. These automatic devices respond to faults. The system detects a faulty section within seconds and sends the information to a dispatcher. This saves time and improves the reliability of power supply, the energy holding company's press service said. The devices were installed specifically on hard-to-reach sections of power lines, where locating faults could previously take several hours.
The use of reclosers is particularly effective in poor weather conditions. During strong winds and snowdrifts, crews will not have to travel kilometers across difficult terrain, as the device locates the problem itself. In some cases, the installed equipment allows a dispatcher to remotely disconnect damaged lines.
The modernization will affect around 10,000 consumers, including social facilities such as hospitals, schools and kindergartens, as well as apartment buildings and private homes.
