Rosatom Wins Top Award for Industrial AI

Rosatom State Corporation received the prestigious AI Awards prize in the “Artificial Intelligence in Industry” category. Winners were selected by a neural network that analyzed a dataset of more than 850 million documents.

Experts noted that the corporation has made a major contribution to the development of reliable and efficient AI technologies for industry, particularly in nuclear power generation.

The AI Awards ceremony took place in Moscow on April 29. What set the event apart was that winners were selected not by a traditional judging panel, but by neural-network algorithms.

Before the ceremony, participants held a roundtable discussion titled “A Heart-to-Heart Talk About AI,” focused on the role of artificial intelligence in the modern world. Panel participants included Russia’s Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev, Rosatom IT Director Yevgeny Abakumov, Beeline CEO Sergey Anokhin and other industry figures.

Forecasting 30 Minutes Ahead

One of Rosatom’s breakthrough developments is an information support system for nuclear power plant operators. The system can forecast the development of technological processes as much as 30 minutes in advance.

That capability makes it possible to identify potential issues early and reduce the impact of human error, helping deliver an unprecedented level of operational safety and efficiency at nuclear power plants.

Smart Assistants and Digital Inspectors

The corporation is also developing AI-powered design assistants that help engineers quickly locate technical documentation and regulatory requirements. These intelligent tools significantly improve the speed and accuracy of engineering calculations.

In parallel, Rosatom is building a “digital inspector” system capable of auditing design documentation far faster and more accurately than conventional approaches.

Technological Sovereignty

Rosatom’s solutions are built entirely on Russian-developed software. The policy is intended to support the technological sovereignty of both the corporation and the country as a whole.

One example is Proteqta, a comprehensive industrial safety platform that includes “smart helmets” equipped with personnel location and condition-monitoring sensors. Innovations of this kind reduce risks at hazardous industrial sites and help save lives.

Ambitious Plans Ahead

Rosatom is also actively participating in international initiatives focused on the safe deployment of artificial intelligence, working together with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Joint projects are aimed at developing unified standards and protocols for the safe use of AI in the nuclear sector.

The AI Awards recognition reinforces Rosatom’s position as a leading developer and deployer of industrial artificial intelligence technologies. The achievement also serves as a launch point for further growth in Russia’s domestic digital technologies and highlights the country’s broader push toward technological leadership in global markets.

For us, it is especially meaningful that this award was granted by artificial intelligence itself, because it reflects the corporation’s efforts to advance industrial AI. Today, we are actively deploying innovative technologies across all areas of our business, modernizing data-processing centers, developing trusted hardware-software systems, and participating in International Atomic Energy Agency initiatives focused on the safe use of AI in industrial operations. Of course, people remain central to decision-making in critical nuclear-energy processes. The next stage is large-scale deployment, and such high recognition will serve as an incentive for further achievements in the field of AI
