Russian Developers Certify Native T-FLEX CAD Version for Astra Linux
Russian companies Top Systems and Astra Group have certified a native version of the T-FLEX CAD computer-aided design system for the Astra Linux operating system.
The previous version of the IT product required the Windows edition of T-FLEX CAD to run on Linux through a configured Wine package. The new native build runs directly in the Astra Linux environment, eliminating the need for additional compatibility layers.
In the future, the software will help companies and organizations move engineers’ workstations to Linux without giving up professional 3D design tools. The project is expected to contribute to the technological independence of Russian industry.

According to representatives of the two developers, the new build runs on Astra Linux without additional compatibility layers, allowing it to take full advantage of the operating system. Among the benefits they cite are high performance and efficient management of computing resources and graphics capabilities. The software can also interface with specialized equipment used in manufacturing processes. Its developers see the reduced dependence on the Windows ecosystem and third-party compatibility tools as a key advantage of the new CAD version. The approach supports Russia’s import-substitution goals, makes IT systems much easier to support and maintain, and creates a more transparent foundation for evaluation, accreditation and certification in secure environments. Installation and administration are also more straightforward: the native version requires no additional environment such as Wine and can be managed using Astra Linux’s standard tools, reducing the qualification requirements for customer personnel.

Nanosoft previously released a dedicated Linux version of its nanoCAD platform for Astra Linux, while Ascon introduced the native KOMPAS-3D v24 for Russian Linux-based operating systems. For Russia’s industrial sector, developing a native T-FLEX CAD version for Astra Linux marks another step toward a fully Russian software stack for industrial design.
