Russian LCD Modules Enter Mass Production

Russia has begun mass production of interactive all-in-one computers equipped with Russian-made LCD modules and AI-powered contactless controls.

Russia’s largest manufacturer of displays, interactive equipment, computing hardware and hardware-software systems, resident of the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone – Nex-T Group (NexTouch) – has started mass production of interactive all-in-one computers equipped with Russian-made liquid-crystal display modules. The new device combines a powerful computing unit with a touchscreen that supports AI-powered contactless control.

Contactless Control and 3D Models

The all-in-one computers are designed to visualize production data, monitor and analyze information, work with digital and 3D models, and train employees directly at their workstations. Contactless control expands the equipment’s potential applications: it can be used in operating rooms, laboratories and sterile manufacturing environments where strict hygiene standards apply. The equipment is aimed at offices, educational and medical institutions, industrial companies, government agencies and critical information infrastructure facilities.

The launch of the production line signals a shift toward deeper domestic manufacturing. In the past, Russian companies largely assembled finished devices from imported components. Developing their own LCD modules reduces dependence on external suppliers. Displays are among the most complex components, so localizing their production strengthens technological sovereignty by building an independent manufacturing base and making supply chains more resilient. It also supports related industries, including the production of touch panels, controllers and specialized electronics.

From Concept to Finished Chip

The NexTouch project continues the broader push by Moscow manufacturers toward deeper localization. In Zelenograd, the Mikron and Element plants produce microcontrollers, smart-card chips and sensors on semiconductor wafers – the industry’s deepest level of localization. Aquarius Group has moved into developing its own motherboards adapted for Russian operating systems (OS) and modern computing platforms. HighTech has released the LinQ HX neural-network accelerator, built around a Russian microprocessor for embedded systems, robots and smart-city services.

All of these companies operate at sites within the Technopolis Moscow special economic zone, which brings together several specialized industrial parks. This cluster structure allows related manufacturers to operate within the same city, cutting logistics costs and speeding up the path from production to market. Moscow offers residents tax incentives, developed infrastructure, direct access to a skilled workforce and research centers. The expansion of high-tech manufacturing is part of the Moscow government’s strategy and aligns with the goals of the national Efficient and Competitive Economy project.

Building a Domestic Component Base

In recent years, Russia’s computer-equipment industry has been steadily moving toward more sophisticated technology. In 2022, Aquarius Group commissioned a new manufacturing complex in the Tver region, increasing production of servers, personal computers, laptops and all-in-one systems. The facility produced its first portable computers with reconfigurable chassis, as well as the Aquarius Cmp NS483 and NE355 models, which are compatible with Russian operating systems. Meanwhile, the plant began assembling T50 rack servers for enterprise data centers.

In 2023, Graviton Group introduced the M52I and M75I all-in-one computers, establishing product lines for the corporate market. In 2024, Aquarius Group released the Aquarius Mnb Pro models with modern processors and proprietary motherboards, adapting the equipment to new computing platforms. The lineup later expanded to include high-performance all-in-one computers and desktop systems based on 14th-generation Intel Core processors. The company was also developing its mobile range: the Aquarius Cmp NE355 laptop with a Ryzen 5 processor gained full compatibility with the Russian operating systems Astra Linux, Alt and Rosa. Its anti-glare display, audio system and wide selection of ports make it a practical tool for employees handling confidential data. In 2025, Graviton Group launched PCs with hardware support for neural networks, moving beyond basic assembly toward devices aligned with global AI PC manufacturing practices.

Interactive Device Market Gains Momentum

Market data points to sustained growth in interactive devices and specialized workstations. According to estimates by iXBT.com analysts, Russia’s interactive-panel market is already worth 11–12 billion rubles a year, or about $130–140 million at the September 17, 2026 exchange rate. Against this backdrop, the project launched by Nex-T Group addresses existing market demand. In the coming years, demand for corporate IT equipment is expected to grow as government agencies and industrial companies shift to Russian-made solutions.

Combining locally produced hardware, software platforms and AI algorithms could give Russian equipment a competitive edge. Over time, manufacturers are expected to focus on integrated solutions for industry and government agencies. Equipped with reliable service and support, such products could find demand not only in Russia but also in foreign markets, particularly in countries that are likewise building independent IT infrastructure.

Starting mass production of liquid-crystal modules domestically changes the structure of the market. Local manufacturing guarantees stable supplies of a critical component for a wide range of industries. Previously, these modules were imported entirely from abroad, leaving domestic manufacturers dependent on external supplies and price fluctuations.
