Altai Schoolchildren Explore Agriculture Through VR Technology
An agricultural university has launched an interactive “city of professions” to introduce students to farming careers.
At the Altai State Agrarian University, organizers have opened Gorod professiy APK “Ya v Agro” (Agriculture Career City “I Am in Agro”), an interactive project featuring about 20 stations where schoolchildren can explore the basics of working in the agricultural sector.
The organizers have equipped the site with a wide range of high-tech tools. At the “Fish Farm” station, for example, visitors can draw fish and then bring those drawings to life using digital technology.
At the “Smart Factory” station, students go through a full production cycle: they assemble process chains for cheese and bread, sort products in a robotic warehouse using a tablet, and then dispatch goods to stores from a logistics hub.
Organizers say the use of advanced technologies could help attract new talent to the agricultural sector, which is currently facing a shortage of skilled workers.
