Yandex Launches Robotic Delivery Service in Astana
The service is currently available only in one district of the city as part of a pilot.
Yandex delivery robots have begun operating outside Russia. The company has launched its rover service in Astana, where it is currently available only in the Yesil District. The delivery area is expected to expand gradually after the pilot phase is completed.
The project is being implemented by Yandex Qazaqstan with support from the Astana city administration, the city police, Astana Innovations, and Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development.
The company notes that this is not simply a demonstration of Yandex's technology. The robot operates on city streets, plans its own routes and navigates obstacles autonomously.
Orders can be placed through the Yandex Go app in the Lavka section if the delivery address is within the pilot zone. The robot travels at an average speed of about 6 km/h. Delivery is free for users during the pilot period.
