A Powerful Pair for Energy: Astra Linux and Delta-K Compatibility Opens New Possibilities
Russia's energy sector continues its transition toward domestically developed software, and one of the key prerequisites for that shift is the ability to integrate different digital solutions. Astra Group and KS-IT have now confirmed the compatibility of their products for energy-sector applications.
The certification covers Astra Linux Server version 1.8 and Delta-K (Delta-K Information Platform) version 5. Astra Linux Server is Astra Group's flagship server operating system. It is widely regarded as the market leader in Russia, with more than 3.5 million installations across its various editions. The operating system is listed in the Russian software registry and serves as the foundation for trusted IT infrastructures.
Delta-K is a specialized platform for industrial enterprises that consolidates, stores, analyzes and visualizes operational data. It is designed to perform those tasks even for companies with geographically distributed operations. The platform is also included in the Russian software registry and is already deployed at major energy facilities across Russia.
Testing confirmed full compatibility between the two products, enabling customers to deploy certified enterprise-grade software for a broad range of operational tasks.
Joint Growth Prospects
Against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing software import substitution efforts in the energy sector, as well as the effective ban on the use of foreign software at critical infrastructure facilities that took effect on January 1, 2025, this combination of products offers broad deployment potential.
The integrated solution can be used for process data repositories, dispatch monitoring, equipment performance analytics and the integration of information from geographically dispersed branches of major power transmission and generation companies across Russia.
Toward Technological Independence
The certification of Astra Linux Server and Delta-K compatibility marks another milestone in a long-term effort to establish a comprehensive portfolio of Russian software solutions for the energy industry. That effort has been pursued both at the federal level and by major industry players. For example, in 2023, Rosseti developed internal standards and migration scenarios for adopting Russian software while strengthening localization requirements for equipment and components.
Delta-K was added to the Russian software registry in 2021. Over the past five years, it has been deployed at major power facilities operated by the Siberian Generating Company, Rosenergoatom, a branch of Rosatom Infrastructure Solutions, and several other organizations.
The developers of Astra Linux have also worked closely with the energy sector. In 2024, they certified the operating system's compatibility with the Radio Access 4 intelligent energy metering system. In 2025, the Piramida-Seti and Piramida 2.0 platforms for energy data collection, analytics and resource metering were launched on Astra Linux.
A Unified Environment for Energy Management
The compatibility of Astra Linux Server and Delta-K brings the industry closer to building a comprehensive software ecosystem for Russia's electric power sector. In practice, it establishes a reliable combination of system software and application software that can support data management infrastructure and process control without relying on imported technologies.
Demand for such solutions is expected to grow over the coming years, driven both by ongoing modernization of energy infrastructure and by requirements to replace foreign software. By 2030, at least 80% of Russian enterprises are expected to transition to domestically developed software. The addition of another proven combination of core software products moves the energy sector closer to achieving that objective.
