Smart Helmets Protect Gas Facility Workers in St. Petersburg
The system combines hardware and software integrated into standard safety gear

Gazprom LNG Portovaya has launched a project to deploy smart helmets for worker safety, the company’s press service told IT RUSSIA. The solution is a hardware-software system integrated into a standard protective helmet.
Workers Stay Within Reach
According to CEO Anton Stukov, the rollout of digital personal protective equipment is designed to enable proactive response and improve overall safety at the facility.
The system provides an effective tool for quickly locating workers in case of incidents or health issues. A built-in module tracks employee location in real time via a dispatcher console, including elevation data.
Mobile Gas Monitoring System
The smart helmet can also pair with portable gas analyzers, creating a mobile gas monitoring system. This complements stationary systems and allows faster, more precise detection of leaks and other gas-related incidents.
Another key feature is access control for high-risk work zones.
Earlier reports highlighted how the Umnaya shakhta (Smart Mine system) manages conveyors and tracks personnel location.
