Russian Cosmonauts Prepare to Install Robot on ISS
Cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina rehearsed tasks for an upcoming extravehicular activity in the hydrolab at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. The main focus of the session was the installation of the Teledroid (TeleDroid robot) on the Russian segment of the ISS.

During the exercise, the cosmonauts moved the robot from the MIM2 airlock module to the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module. Along with the Teledroid, they transported an external television camera that will monitor the robot’s actions during the experiment. Because the robot weighs about 105 kilograms, the ERA robotic arm will be used to move it during the actual spacewalk.
Teledroid is a torso-type humanoid robot without legs equipped with machine vision technology. The robot can mimic the movements of a cosmonaut wearing an exoskeleton and perform some tasks autonomously. The launch to the ISS is scheduled for the third or fourth quarter of 2026.
