Cows in Russia Voluntarily Come to Robots for Milking
Old dairy farms across the country are being modernized.

Robotization of farms is one of the key directions of digital transformation in Russia’s agro-industrial sector. Across the country, automated milking systems are increasingly being introduced, boosting milk production volumes and freeing people up for other tasks.
Bashkortostan has also joined this trend. The region currently uses 37 robotic systems in dairy farming. More than 20 of these installations were launched at farms and agricultural enterprises last year, with roughly the same number scheduled to be commissioned in 2026.
By Their Own Choice
Vladimir Region is keeping pace with the nationwide trend as well. A livestock complex in Selivanovsky District has been equipped with two robots designed for voluntary cow milking.
According to specialists, cows come to be milked on their own — no one drives them. A dedicated software system monitors animal health, milk yields, and feed consumption. To manage a large dairy herd, only two milkmaids are required.
