AI System in Russia Optimizes Tourist Flow at Historic Palace-Museum

Launched in Peterhof, the tech uses real-time data to reduce congestion and streamline routes — even predicting crowds based on weather and season.

Russia has launched a new AI-driven system to manage the movement of visitors through one of its most popular cultural sites, the Peterhof Palace and Museum. The platform, developed by Yandex Cloud and GlowByte, analyzes data to design optimal tourist routes, according to Russian tech outlet Ink.

During its initial trial, the system evaluated 100,000 route permutations and selected eight optimal pathways. Interestingly, several AI-generated routes matched those recommended by the museum’s own staff.

The technology accounts for real-time visitor flow, seasonal patterns, weather, and site popularity. Its impact is already visible — helping reduce congestion at security checkpoints, coatrooms, and other pressure points.

AI is also being used to ease traffic beyond museum walls. The “Kontroler” platform manages public transport logistics, from bus scheduling and intervals to operational adjustments based on real-world conditions.

Russia’s transportation sector is rapidly embracing digital tools — from smart trip logs and automated cabin temperature control to in-vehicle video surveillance and remote health screenings for drivers.
