Drone Delivers Medicines to Remote Village in Sakhalin for the First Time

In the Sakhalin Region, an unmanned aircraft has completed its first real-world delivery of medical supplies. The flight was organized by Aurora BAS on the instructions of Governor Valery Limarenko.

The fixed-wing Aist drone flew 32 kilometers, delivering medicines from the Korsakov Central District Hospital to the village of Ozyorskoye before returning with patients' blood samples. Ozyorskoye does not have a laboratory, and medicines and test samples were previously transported by road. The flight took 19 minutes, about half the usual travel time.

To transport the medicines, the drone was equipped with a thermal container connected to the onboard power system, allowing it to maintain the required temperature regardless of weather conditions. The system also supports parachute cargo delivery, while flight monitoring was provided by a platform based on the ERA-GLONASS state system.

According to company representatives, drone deliveries had previously been conducted only in test mode, but all the conditions for full-scale operation, including temperature control, have now been established. The company plans to expand the service across the Russian Far East by extending its delivery network to hard-to-reach communities throughout the year.
