Gazprom Neft Develops Eco-Friendly Mineral Exploration System
The platform plans geological surveys in ways that avoid forested areas and sensitive ecosystems.

Russian energy company Gazprom Neft has developed a new digital platform designed to make mineral exploration more environmentally sustainable. The system takes regional natural conditions into account and plans geological survey operations in ways that avoid disrupting forested areas.
Artificial intelligence models terrain using aerial photography and airborne laser scanning data. The resulting maps help engineers determine where to place exploration equipment, route heavy vehicles, and position construction sites while avoiding areas containing rare and valuable plant species.
The new technology is now being actively deployed for exploration projects in Siberia.
