My Kazan: A Smart Communication Tool for Urban Efficiency
Kazan has launched a new digital platform, "My Kazan", designed to improve communication between residents and the city administration. The system provides real-time updates on utility shutdowns, maintenance work, and urban improvement projects.

A New Tool for Connectivity and Urban Planning
The "My Kazan" platform consolidates essential information for residents—news, updates on utility interruptions, infrastructure maintenance, and other public service alerts. One of its most practical features is address-based customization: users receive data relevant to their exact location.
Announced in December 2024, the project had an initial budget of $160,000. While local in scale, it serves as a key example of municipal digital transformation in Russia. The platform aims to improve the speed and accuracy of public communication, reduce the load on city hotlines, and increase the transparency of government operations.
Citizens will gain a personalized and accessible way to stay informed, while city officials will have new tools for feedback management, control, and data-driven decision-making.

Integration and Licensing Opportunities
The platform is particularly relevant for the domestic market, with strong potential in feedback modules that allow residents to submit complaints, monitor progress on repairs, and rate service quality. Logical next steps include integration with other city systems—utilities, dispatch centers, GIS, and municipal databases. Predictive analytics and automated notifications based on seasonal or recurring issues are also expected.
Given its modular architecture, the system could be replicated in other Russian cities. Developers may offer consulting services and software licensing, allowing local governments to adapt the platform to regional needs and regulations.

Digital Platforms as Everyday Infrastructure
Address-based digital platforms are not entirely new in Russia. The capital, Moscow, operates a similar system called "Our City", which allows residents to report problems, track progress, and receive feedback. As part of the federal "Smart City" program—developed by Rosatom under the national project "Housing and Urban Environment"—Russian cities are required to implement digital management tools for local infrastructure. Another notable example is the "MyHome" app, which informs residents about scheduled maintenance and temporary utility shutdowns in their buildings.

Toward a Fully Integrated System
"My Kazan" represents the next step in Russia’s evolution of digital city management. Its long-term success depends on factors such as seamless integration with existing systems, regular updates, intuitive design, and transparent feedback channels. Developers have focused on ensuring the platform serves as a practical, user-friendly communication hub for both citizens and municipal staff.
Within the next one to two years, the city plans to add interactive features such as service requests, task monitoring, and a mobile app. Over the next three to five years, "My Kazan" could evolve into a fully-fledged urban management system with advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and automated responses.
