Researchers at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU NETI) are developing a digital assistant to calculate power supply configurations for oil and gas fields. Designing electrical infrastructure is one of the most labor-intensive stages of preparing new resource deposits for development, with engineering calculations typically taking months. The new system is expected to complete the same work in no more than a week.

The algorithms will automatically process large datasets and generate several power supply options for each site. Engineers at oil and gas companies will then be able to select the most suitable configuration.

In the future, the algorithms are expected to become part of a digital twin of an oil and gas field – a virtual model that integrates geological, production, and power infrastructure data. Such a system would help operators evaluate different development scenarios, plan infrastructure upgrades more quickly, and identify the most efficient power supply strategies.
